Who writes this, and how it is funded

What this site is

louvreprivate.tours is an independent guide to visiting the Louvre — private tours, guided tours, tickets and the practical business of getting inside a museum that receives close to nine million people a year.

It is not the official website of the Musée du Louvre, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the museum. We do not sell museum tickets. When we quote an opening time or a price, it comes from the museum’s own site and we say so, with the date we checked it. The official site is louvre.fr and its ticket shop is ticketlouvre.fr.

Who writes it

A small editorial team based in Paris. Every page carries a byline and a last-checked date.

• Claire Benoit — Lead editor, Paris. Fifteen years guiding art-history walks in Paris. Writes the entrance, timing and ticket sections and re-checks them every quarter.
• Marc Feuillet — Museum research. Former museum educator. Covers the collection pages — what is on display, where it hangs and when it moves.

How we check things

Museum information rots quickly. The Louvre changed its admission structure in 2026 and shortened its late-night closing time, and a great many guides still publish the old figures. Our process is deliberately narrow:

• Prices, hours and admission rules come from louvre.fr only. Never from another guide, never from a booking platform, never from memory. Each figure carries the date it was read.
• Tour details come from the operator or the platform at the time of writing. Ratings and review counts are the platform’s numbers, attributed as such — we do not aggregate them or present them as our own scoring.
• Every outbound tour link is checked before publication. During our August 2026 review we removed one product from this site entirely because its listing had gone dead, and replaced two links that the source spreadsheet had wrong.
• We re-walk the museum each season. Entrances, queue behaviour and room layouts change, and a page written from a desk shows it.
• We say when we are not sure. If a figure is a range, we print a range. If a change has been announced but not delivered, we say that rather than reporting it as fact.

How the site makes money

Plainly: affiliate commission. Some links to tours and tickets are affiliate links, mainly to GetYourGuide. If you book after following one, the platform pays us a commission. You pay exactly the same price — the commission comes out of the platform’s margin, not your fare.

Three things follow from that, and we hold ourselves to them:

• Affiliate links are marked. Every one carries a nofollow sponsored attribute, and pages carrying them say so.
• Commission does not set the ranking. Our comparison pages recommend semi-private tours over the more expensive fully private ones, tell you the €40 orientation tour is often the smart buy, and point you at the museum’s own ticket shop — which pays us nothing — whenever you only want admission.
• We publish the bad news. Where a well-paying product is poorly rated, we say so and tell you not to buy it. Where an operator we cannot earn from is the right answer, we still name them.

We do not take payment for reviews, placement or favourable coverage, and no operator on this site has seen their page before publication.

What we will not do

• We will not imply we are the museum, or use its branding.
• We will not sell you a ticket, or take your payment details.
• We will not invent prices, opening hours, room numbers or review scores.
• We will not claim access nobody can sell — pre-opening entry, an empty Mona Lisa room.
• We will not run a review of an operator that we have been paid to write.

Corrections

Museums change and we get things wrong. If you find an error — a price that has moved, an entrance that has closed, a tour that no longer runs — write to hi@louvreprivate.tours. We correct factual errors quickly and update the checked date on the page when we do.

If you are an operator reviewed on this site and believe we have described you inaccurately, the same address reaches us. We will correct anything factually wrong. We will not remove an opinion because you dislike it.

Languages

The site is published in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Simplified Chinese. The translations are human-adapted rather than machine-translated: prices are shown in the currencies that make sense locally, and official French terms are kept in the original alongside the translation, because that is what you will see on the signage.
