Why the inventory matters
Several hundred listings surface under the museum’s private-tours category alone, running from €40 orientation walks to per-group family treasure hunts priced for four. That range is the platform’s real advantage: you can compare a large-group tour, a semi-private one and a private upgrade side by side, from operators who otherwise have nothing in common.
Review depth follows from that scale. The leading Louvre products carry review counts in the thousands and one exceeds eleven thousand — enough that a 4.1 or a 4.7 means something. Compare that with a listing showing 4.6 from 35 reviews, where the number is close to noise.
Cancellation is the underrated part
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start is standard on most products here, and a large share also offer reserve-now-pay-later.
That matters more in Paris than people expect. Museum admission bought directly from the Louvre is typically non-refundable, so a visitor who books tickets six weeks out and then hits a transport strike or a heatwave has lost the money. A guided product with 24-hour cancellation does not carry that risk. For unsettled plans it is the strongest argument on this page.
The three traps
- “Private” is often an option, not a product. Several highly rated listings in the private-tours category are group tours with a private upgrade inside the booking flow. The headline price is the group price. Open the flow and select the option you actually want before comparing anything.
- The same tour appears repeatedly. Operators list variants, and resellers list the same underlying tour. Three listings that look like three choices are frequently one guide meeting one group at one door.
- Not everything is good. One self-guided audio product for the Louvre sits below a 3.0 rating. Depth of inventory means the weak products are here too, and the platform will happily sell you one.
How we use it
Decide the format first — see the comparison — then filter here by that format, sort by rating, and discard anything with fewer than a few hundred reviews unless it is a genuinely niche product like the family treasure hunt.
For plain admission with no guide, leave the platform and buy from the museum. We say that on every page where it applies, including this one.
The Louvre products we rate here
-
01
Best of the Louvre Guided Tour with Pre-booked Ticket
Highest-rated Louvre tour on the platform with a four-figure review count. Private option available.
-
02
Louvre Museum Tour: Mona Lisa & Iconic Masterpieces
Meets at the Kiosque des Noctambules, not under the pyramid. Runs in English, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
-
03
Best of Louvre Semi-Private Guided Tour with Pre-booked Tickets
Small enough that you can ask questions in front of the painting rather than shouting over a headset.
-
04
Louvre Guided Treasure Hunt for Families and Kids
Priced per group rather than per head, up to four people. The only child-led format on the platform.
-
05
Night at the Louvre: Guided Museum Tour, Max 6 Guests
Runs on the museum late-opening evenings. Six people is the hard cap, so it sells out earlier than the daytime tours.
Prices checked Aug 2026.
Strengths and blind spots
Best for
- Comparing many operators in one place
- Booking late
- Anyone who wants a refundable option
Watch for
- Several listings are the same underlying tour resold by different operators
- “Private” is often an upgrade option inside a group product — read the option name
- At least one audio-guide listing sits below a 3.0 rating
Where it fits
Choose the tour before you choose the shop. The format — private, semi-private, small group or plain admission — makes far more difference to your afternoon than which site you buy it on. Which tour format to buy before you choose where to buy it. Every platform compared side by side.

Questions people actually ask
Is GetYourGuide good for Louvre tours?
It has the deepest Louvre inventory of any marketplace and the most consistent cancellation terms — free up to 24 hours on most products. For comparing many operators quickly, it is the strongest option available.
Is GetYourGuide legitimate?
Yes. It is an established European booking platform with real customer service and payment protection. The risk when booking here is not fraud, it is picking a product whose group size or inclusions are not what you assumed.
Can I cancel a GetYourGuide Louvre tour?
Most products allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time, and many offer reserve-now-pay-later. Check the specific listing — the terms are shown before you pay.
Does GetYourGuide sell official Louvre tickets?
It sells admission bundled into guided products and reserved-entry tickets from operators. For plain admission at the museum’s own price, buy from the museum — no reseller can undercut a price the museum sets.
Are GetYourGuide reviews trustworthy?
Reviews come from verified bookings, which is a meaningful filter. Read recent ones and check they refer to the option you are buying, since several variants can sit behind one listing.
