A general private-tour operator covering Paris and its museums. The Louvre is one line in a wide catalogue, which tells you both what this is good for and where it falls short.

Generalist private operators
There is a whole tier of the Paris market that does not specialise in anything: private guides across the city, museums included, often with transport. My Private Paris sits squarely in it, and the category deserves a fair hearing because it solves a problem the specialists do not.
If you have three days in Paris and want a guide for two of them — a morning at the Louvre, an afternoon in the Marais, a day at Versailles — a generalist gives you one contact, one style of guiding and one invoice. Booking a Louvre specialist, a neighbourhood specialist and a Versailles specialist gives you a better Louvre morning and considerably more admin.
What you trade away
Depth inside the museum. A guide whose week includes the Louvre, Montmartre, Versailles and a food walk cannot know the Denon wing the way someone who works only in museums does. For the headline objects that is fine; the difference shows the moment you ask something off-script.
The other variable is who you actually get. Generalist operators work from a roster, so ask whether the guide assigned to your Louvre morning works in museums regularly or is a city guide covering it. That is a fair question and the answer is informative.
Before booking
- Ask whether the assigned guide holds the guide-conférencier licence required inside national museums.
- Confirm whether museum admission is included and who books the timed slot.
- If a car is included, ask what portion of the price it represents — it is usually substantial.
- Agree the duration and meeting point in writing.
If the Louvre is the centrepiece rather than a component, compare against the specialist operators before committing.
What it is good at, and where to be careful
Best for
- Booking several Paris tours from one operator
- Visitors who want a car and guide combined
Watch for
- The Louvre is not the house speciality
- Ask which guide you are actually getting
How it compares
Every operator on this site is judged on the same four things: real group size, guide credentials, whether museum admission is included, and how much evidence sits behind the reputation. All thirty operators, ranked into tiers. Every private format compared, with the crossover points.
Booking through a marketplace instead gives you free cancellation up to 24 hours on most products, which agencies rarely match. The platforms these operators sell through. Some links to tours and tickets are affiliate links. If you book through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend.
Questions people actually ask
Is My Private Paris good for the Louvre?
It is a competent private-tour operator with the Louvre as one product among many. Fine if the museum is part of a wider Paris programme; a museum specialist will do more with the same hours if the Louvre is your priority.
Do they offer tours with a driver?
Private operators of this type commonly combine a guide with transport across the city. Confirm exactly what is included, since a car is usually the largest single component of the price.
How does it compare with the specialist agencies?
Broader and generally cheaper than Context Travel or Paris Muse, with less depth on any one museum. A reasonable middle option, particularly for multi-day bookings.
